Consultant Paediatric Neurologist

Dr. Esther Tantsis is a paediatric neurologist with broad expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex neurological conditions in children. She has over eight years’ experience working across major tertiary hospitals within the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, where she provides care in both acute inpatient settings and specialist outpatient clinics for a wide range of neurological conditions including epilepsy, developmental delay, headaches, and movement disorders. Esther is known for her collaborative approach and dedication to early diagnosis and intervention, particularly in the field of neurodisability.

She is the clinical lead in the Cerebral Palsy Early Diagnosis Clinic—an innovative partnership between the SCHN and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. This multidisciplinary clinic integrates the latest research and evidence-based tools to deliver early diagnosis and coordinated management for children with cerebral palsy. As part of her commitment to improving care pathways, Esther is currently leading a research project funded by a $500K Cerebral Palsy Alliance grant, focused on enhancing access to genetic testing in children with cerebral palsy.

Esther holds a PhD (USyd) in multiple sclerosis and related disorders, which investigated central nervous system demyelinating disorders in children. During her training, she developed strong skills in neuroimaging and neuromuscular assessment—experience she continues to apply across her subspecialty clinics.

Alongside her clinical roles, she is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney and a passionate advocate for combining academic research with meaningful patient care. Esther welcomes children and families with warmth, expertise, and a focus on achieving the best long-term outcomes.
